I had a wonderful morning spent with four uplifting, kind women and I can’t wait to share with y’all what mission they are behind! I was asked last week if I would be interested in taking pictures for a local non-profit pregnancy care center, and I was honored and excited! When we lived in VA, we supported a local pregnancy care center (Care Net) for a few years and loved hearing the amazing stories. When Resources for Women here is Daytona Beach contacted me, it was a no-brainer! Here are some words from Kayla Mowery, the Executive Director or the center:
“Resources For Women is a life-affirming Non-profit pregnancy care center. We mission is to meet women experiencing unplanned pregnancies and to offer support. We provide free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, and educate women on all of their options. It is our ultimate desire that each of our clients are able to carry their pregnancies to term and either parent themselves or create an adoption plan for their child, however we never coerce or manipulate our clients into making a decision. Our staff and volunteers strive to provide compassionate atmosphere while respecting and caring for each of our clients regardless of their decision. We believe in the love and compassion of Jesus Christ, and we want to share it with our clients and with our community.
We offer an “Earn While You Learn” program for women (and any other supportive family members/friends) who have chosen to carry to term and parent. In this program, clients participate in free pregnancy and parenting classes throughout their pregnancy and for 12 months following birth. Through their participation in this program, clients are able to earn points toward shopping in our “Mommy Boutique”, which is stocked with all sorts of baby and maternity necessities. Clients can also collect diapers and wipes once a week starting at the 34th week of pregnancy until their baby is 12 months old.
Alongside individual and church donors, one of our main fundraising efforts is our thrift store “Second Blessings Resale Boutique”. All of the proceeds from our store go directly to the general fund of Resources For Women pregnancy care center, which allows us to continue to offer our services free of charge. All of the items in our thrift store (and Mommy Boutique) are donations from members of our community. “
